In other words, there is business out there for successful fashion photographers. Similar to any sub-genre, it's one that requires a lot of hard work, time, and an understanding of what is "fashion". I typically note to my students interested in fashion photography that the image is not about the model, it's about what s/he is wearing. The model essentially becomes the prop for the clothing, shoes, and accessories. A successful image has to be stylized; one must consider the use of color, light, and often times, location in order to enhance what the model is wearing.
