Make it Monday: The Art of Rock - Transcending Sound

Wolman, Baron, Johnny Cash, 1967.
You may have read the e-mail already... but in case you've missed it... one of our distinguished faculty members, Professor Mary Yates, has recently curated a very exciting photography show for the Louisville Photography Biennial!  The show not only features some of the best rock concert photographers but also one of our alumni!
Mary Yates, Assistant Online Program Director at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh – Online Division, was chosen to curate “The Art of Rock: Transcending Sound” at Copper & Kings American Brandy Distillery, for the Louisville Photo Biennial held Friday, September 25.

Photographer and music lover, Professor Yates, chose to feature pictures from renowned rock photographer Baron Wolman, as well as photos by local artists and 2012 Bachelor of Science - Photography AIP-OD alum, Hannah Verbeuren.

“I was intrigued about presenting this type of work as a representation of documenting the creative spirit,” Mary explained. “This seemed like a natural fit for the gallery at Copper & Kings because music plays such a big role in their sonic aging process, so I pitched the idea and they loved it.”

“The Art of Rock: Transcending Sound” runs Sept. 26-Nov. 27, 2015.
Many congrats to Hannah Verbeuren for having her photograph in the show! To read more about this amazing photography show, click "here".  The show runs through November 27th.  If you're in the area, be sure to check it out!
