Website Wednesday: Stuck in Customs

The name of Trey Ratcliff's blog, "Stuck in Customs", is certainly catchy and might lead one to think that he works while he is - well, stuck in customs... perhaps he travels a lot?  Do not let the name of the website fool you, Ratcliff spends a tad more time on his work.

Ratcliff's travel photography has been featured around the globe and has been featured on BBC, ABC, FOX, CBS and NBC.  What makes Ratcliff's work stand out amongst other travel photographers is his unique style of HDR editing.  Another aspect about Ratcliff that allows him to stand out in the photography community in general, is that he's also an educator.   Ratcliff offers a number of video tutorials on creating a successful HDR image, how to use multiple photography editing software and last but not least, how to organize your work process.

Let's start with Ratcliff's HDR tutorials.  There is a free version of the tutorial and naturally, there is a $99 version but hey... he's gotta' make a living too!  Ratcliff started these tutorials six years ago and he updates the information ever three months.  In short, as he learns from his own mistakes, he also is sure to share the lessons he's learned with his readers. Let's take a peak at the free video tutorial:

Along with offering techniques regarding the HDR technique, Ratcliff also writes different reviews related to cameras, lenses and other important gear that he uses on his shoots.  After reading his section titled "My Gear", it's pretty clear that Ratcliff shoots with a Sony although he has also written a few reviews regarding Nikon and Canon; click "here".

If you're also interested to learn about Ratcliff's thoughts on software, you can read his reviews on that as well.  My personal favorite is the review that he wrote regarding Nik Software, click "here".  If you hover over the section titled "Learn How", you can check out the different "Photography Tips" he's shared, information about the eBooks he sells and more!

There is so much information not only in Ratcliff's blog, but also in his personal website.  Use Ratcliff's resources to learn more about camera gear, editing and for inspiration!  Click "here" for a link to his personal website.
