Website Wednesday: Alex Koloskov's Website

The day is finally here! Tonight at 7:00pm EST, Alex Koloskov will give a lecture to our students at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online Division.  Trust me... this is not one you're going to want to miss.  Even better news for our photo students: you can receive extra credit for attending.  (hooray!)

With all of that said, the best way to prepare for this lecture is to ask yourself, "What does Koloskov shoot?".  Before logging into the lecture this evening, check out his freelance website, where he shares his images of product photography!  From food to jewelery to fragrances to cosmetics to liquids to flowers - Koloskov's website has a variety of subject matter to look through.  The majority of his work is created right in his studio in California.

Koloskov is also the founder of Photigy.com; an online forum where he and other instructors offer classes on lighting as it relates to product photography.  I had the pleasure of speaking with him yesterday - as we were preparing for his lecture - and I asked him, "When and how did you start Photigy?"  He replied, "It was just from my blog, my personal blog I wrote about my work and what I discovered".  Koloskov noted that he is self taught in photography; that what he has learned is by trial and error.  However, he also knows the importance of education - as he's running an online program; he stresses that you have to get in the studio and try it out.  You cannot merely watch videos or read articles; you have to try the lighting and shooting out for yourself!  Please be sure to catch the lecture tonight; if you're one of the few who has yet to register, there's still time!  Click "here" for details.
