Make it Monday: Student Work - Dallas Selby

Dallas Selby, one of my students in "PHOA113: Lighting" course, recently completed her Week 3 - Assignment 2, titled "The Character of Light Applied to Gender" and did an excellent job!  In this assignment, students are asked to focus on lighting two new human subjects, under soft and hard light with studio light(s). In terms of light ratio, the goal is to produce some images that reflect a 1:1 and others that reflect from an 1:8 to 1:2 ratio. Modeling lights and lighting accessories are used for this assignment.  What are your thoughts behind Dallas photographing this female subject under soft light?  What type of light ratio is displayed in the image below?
