Last Friday, I posed a question about how Lauren Randolph - also know as Lauren Lemon - got her start with freelance commercial photography. The answer: Instagram! She started out merely taking photographs on her iPhone, as many photographers due these days. So much for the good ole Pentax K1000 as a "starting camera"... Regardless, Lemon's composition and use of lighting was strong, which caught the eye of many companies. Below is an image that she shot for Nordstrom:

In regards to her taking successful images with her iPhone, "The industry (photography) isn't quite sure yet what to call them; iPhotographers, iPhoneographers, social photographers, mobile photographers, or more directly, influences. As brands try to capitalize on the rise and reach of social media networks such as Instagram - now more than 200 million international users strong - they're turning to the platform's native talent like Lauren Randolph for their eye, their experience, and not least, their followers" (PDNOnline).
