Make it Monday: Butterfly Lighting with Mark Wallace

Many of us have seen the ever famous Mark Wallace speak in a number of video tutorials either on Digital Photography One on One and How'd They Do That - both series sponsored by AdoramaTVIn my opinion, Wallace is one of the most recognizable faces as far as online education goes for the world of photography.  Why is he so famous?  Simply because Wallace is an excellent photographer and educator and in the tutorial below, this fact is no different.  

Hired by Creative Live to give live lecture on lighting techniques, Wallace discussed the different types of equipment that he uses and different lighting schemes.  The video below focuses on the Butterfly Lighting Scheme, "Named for the butterfly-shaped shadow that forms underneath the subject’s nose, this setup is a proven method to ensure your subject is well-lit in a pleasing manner" (PetaPixel).  Check out the video below to see Wallace's demonstration on taking a portrait using a Butterfly Lighting Scheme:
