Website Wednesday: Cambridge in Colour

On any given day, 20,000 people visit a very helpful website called Cambridge in Colour.  This site was founded in 2005 and serves as an online learning environment.  Given the nature of the digital age, photography has become very popular on the internet... although, that goes without saying given that you're attending an online school.  (haha)

Regardless of your photography experience, there is always something to learn from this site.  Under the "Tutorial" section, you can see tutorials related to "Concepts & Terminology", such as "How Your Camera Works", "Quality of Digital Photos", and "Advanced Concepts".  Also within the "Tutorial" section, one can learn how to use his/her camera equipment.  There are a slew of tutorials related to editing photographs and post-processing techniques. Let's say for example that you wanted to learn how to stitch multiple photographs together to create one picture... there's a tutorial for that:

In the world of photography, there are also different "tools" that photographers can use to help capture a stunning photograph.  For example, a Sunrise and Sunset Calculator can help you determine what time the sun will rise and set in your area.  Not only is this important to know when the "Golden Hour" will occur, but you can also better understand how shadows will fall and how the color temperature will also be effected in your image.  Tools such as the Sunrise and Sunset Calculator along with other useful tools like a Moon and Night Calculator, Depth of Field Calculator, Hyperfocal Distance Calculator - and many more - can be found in the "Tools" section of Cambridge and Colour's website.

The best part about this website is the community that is associated with it.  Photographers from around the globe are posting messages to one another everyday in the "Forum" section.  Cambridge in Colour also hosts many different photography competitions that could be fun to enter!  If you've yet to check out this website, I strongly recommend it!
