Website Wednesday: Challenge Winner

Welcome to Website Wednesday!

Two weeks ago, I announced the "Website Wednesday Challenge".  In short, I asked students and faculty members to share his or her photography website.  The submission could have been any type of photography website that hosts one's images.  First and foremost, many thanks to those who participated!  I received five wonderful website submissions and it was very hard to choose one winner!  The best part about this challenge was that there were a variety of different types of sites that were submitted.  Be sure to check out the links that were submitted to this Challenge by your classmates:
Angie Payne · At This Moment · Blog
Kristy Olney · Moko Photo · Company Website
Joe Morales · Rapid Shotz Photography · Flicker Photo Page
Stephanie Walter · S.M.I.T.T.E.N Photography · Facebook Fan Page
Jarrod Davidsmeier · Davidsmeier Photography · Facebook Fan Page

When I looked at each of these websites, I was looking for a few different things.  The design of the site should be clean and organized.  Depending on the type of website, one's design layout may have already been decided, Facebook or Flicker for example, although it's the responsibility of the photographer to make his or her page represent his/her own style.  The website should be user friendly, meaning that it is easy to navigate and that the photos are big enough for someone to see at first glance.  As odd as it may sound, you never want to make a potential client have to think too hard in order to find something on your page.  This might cause someone to become confused and frustrated and will inevitably cause someone to close the page.  One of the most important factors in running a website and being a succesful photographer is to keep your page updated.  It's very important for a potential client to visit your website and see that you're constantly working.  This sense of devotion to the field will make a client want to book with you and will also let them know that you are dependable.  With all of that being said and without further ado...  The winner of this "Website Wednesday Challenge" is...

Congratulations Stephanie!

There will be more "Website Wednesday Challenges" in the future so please stay tuned!  Be sure to also keep your eye out for future Photo Challenges that are posted on "Make it Mondays"!
