Todd Hido is a contemporary American photographer who was born in 1968. Originally from Ohio, Hido is now based out of the San Fransisco Bay Area. He earned his B.F.A. from Tufts University. After which, he studied for a year at Rhode Island School of Design and then moved to the Oakland, to attend California College of Arts and Crafts, where he recieved his M.F.A.
Hido's photography dabbles in "a little bit of this" and "a little bit of that". In my opinion, Hido is best known for his images of houses taken at night, his interior shots as well as his landscapes. He is also known for shooting portraits. To say that Hido has a knack for capturing light would be an understatement. Below are a few of my favorite images by Hido:
Hido, Todd, 2423a and 2479a from Homes at Night Series.
Hido, Todd, 2548b and 3557y from Interiors: Occupied Homes Series.
Hido's latest body of work is titled Excerpts from Silver Meadows. In this body of work, Hido combines his love for many genres and focuses on the town in which he grew up. In the video below, Hido talks about his new series:
After looking at Hido's photography, how does his work impact the way you might photograph your own home town or environment?
